Scarce original issue 1951 Lobby Card #1 for George Stevens’ brilliant adaptation of Theodore Dreiser’s An American Tragedy, A PLACE IN THE SUN, starring Montgomery Clift, who was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for his role, Elizabeth Taylor, Shelley Winters, who was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role, Keefe Brasselle, and Raymond Burr. Steven’s won a Best Director Academy Award for the film and this original 1951 Lobby Card #1 for A PLACE IN THE SUN has a single clean pinhole in each corner/blank border, some smudges, light edge, corner/blank norder wear, otherwise displays good color and a telling portrait of an adoring Shelley Winters with her husband, Montgomery Clift, whose distant stare belies the fact that his mind & heart are somewhere else with someone else!
